21/02/08 - 2008 Privateer Racing Team Website Online

With a new season upon us, it is time for us to update the team website. Although still under construction, we decided to put the new site online. Team roster bios and more media content will be posted up soon.

03/09/07 - Willy Cadham Crowned Ontario Champion

Privateer/asilvertouch team member Willy Cadham took a comanding win at the Ontario Championships claiming the coveted title of Jr. Expert Provincial Champion. In the Elite field Lee Boeyen rounded out the podium in 3rd place.

27/07/07 - Privateer/asilvertouch dominates Ontario Cup DH#3 on Home Soil

After a few weeks of training at home we were excited to be back racing on our home soil, errrr, rock. The 3rd stop of the Ontario Cup circuit was routed down the National trail at Camp Fortune, which is one of the teams favorite. With almost a complete team back riding, (with the exception of Marc, who is back riding Cross Country, but it will be another few weeks before he is back on the big bike) we managed to grab 4 podiums. Adrien Lavoie won Junior Expert followed closely by Willy Cadham in second only 2 tenths behind. In the Masters Expert class David Cox, fresh off of a broken big toe grabbed a second place and in Elite it was Lee Boeyen securing his first podium in his new class finishing third.
A full recap and images can be found at asilvertouch.com

20/06/07 - Adrien puts Privateer/asilvertouch back on the Podium

For the first time ever, our team was entering June without a podium finish. As we rolled into the Quebec Cup stop at Mont Ste. Anne, which was running the lower half of the World Cup course, this was about to change. Although the team was limited to only 4 competitors due to injuries sustained at the Canada Cup events as well as school commitments, we were excited to get on this track. Ste. Anne is the fastest race course on the east, and this years track was faster than ever. Adrien "Clark" Lavioe managed to score his first ever Quebec Cup podium finishing in 3rd place. In Elite, Lee Boeyen was the teams fastest finisher placing in the top 15.

28/05/07 - Bromont and Tremblant Canada Cup Recap

Well the Canada Cup stops didn't go quite to plan, but with only two weeks of preparation on the bikes, some times that is how it goes. Unfortunately both Marc-Andre Casavant and David Cox ended up with lower body injuries which might keep them off of their bikes for the next couple of weeks. Marc's sprained ankle may infact sideline him from DH action until into August. Although the results weren't there yet, everyone seems to be really enjoying the new bikes, and it will undoubtedley be only a matter of time before we are all riding the way we want to be.

27/04/07 - Guillaume's Moving On

With some of the current Team sponsors conflicting with Guillaume's personal sponsors and work commitments, after 3 very successful seasons with Privateer Racing, Gui made the difficult decision to move on. He will now be leading the upstart Bicyclette de Hull Team for 2007. Guillaume, we wish you all the best for 2007. See you at the races!! Over the last 3 years, Guillaumes improvement and sucess is a testament to what a strong and supportive team environment can do for a young rider. As junior rider development is a key goal of the Privateer/asilvertouch team, we will be looking to fill in Guillaume's spot with another junior aged rider for the 2008 season.

12/03/07 - Dangerboy signs on as a Team Sponsor

Well, we just secured another sponsor for the 2007 season in Dangerboy components. Look for team riders to be running their Boxxer direct mount stems, brake levers, bar caps and pedals this summer.

26/01/07 - Privateer/asilvertouch team to ride Giant for 2007

We are very excited to announce that the team will be riding Giant bicycles for 2007. While testing the Glory for asilvertouch, we felt that it was truly one of the top DH bikes on the market, and with the support that an industry leader such as Giant can provide, things are looking good. With our move to Giant, we are also going to be working with Cycle-Sportif GM Bertrand for the coming season.

26/01/07 - 2007 Website Launched

Well, it may be -20 with snow covering the ground, but that isn't stopping us from getting set for another dominant race season. We are psyched about the launch of our new site as well as the new sponsors and changes that we have planned for next season. We will be adding rider bios shortly as well as some other info. Keep checking back for all the latest detalis.

10/01/07 - New Name for 2007 - Privateer/asilvertouch Team

For 2007 the team will go under the name Privateer/asilvertouch. Over the past two seasons, they have been a sponsor, but for next year, we are joining forces. This affiliation will provide the team and our sponsors with even more exposure for the coming season and will help asilvertouch continue to grow. New for this year will be a team blog series on asilvertouch which will be coming later this spring

11/11/06 - Another season in the books

Well on the east coast of Canada, winter seems close at hand. With all of the lift access riding locations closed and now preparing for the winter season, the bikes are being stripped down in preparation for their hibernation. Looking back on what we accomplished this year, it was by far our most successful season. Not only did we have 22 podium finishes, but in that we had 3 Junior Expert podium sweeps, 2 Elite class wins, several podiums on the Canada Cup circuit, 2nd overall ranks in the Canada Cup and Quebec Cup overall series in Junior Expert. On top of that, a great deal of improvement was made by all and a ton of fun was had along the way. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our 2006 sponsors and supporters, without you, this wouldn't have been possible. Thanks to Jon who put in tons of time talking with us about sports psych stuff. To Jose and Eric at Joe Mamma's Cycle and Board Co. You guys were always behind us and promoting us, hooking us up with the parts we needed and helping keep Willy's bike rolling. (and the rest of us.) To Maxxis for providing the best rubber going, Privateer clothing, asilvertouch.com, Smith, Troy Lee Designs, Axis Gear, ADT, and Widex.

14/08/06 - G-Dog Dominates Massif du Sud

Coming off an incredible weekend at home, the Team was psyched to hit Massif du Sud for another double header, Quebec Cup races 5 and 6. Guillaume Soucy-Alarie has loved this course the last couple of years, and finally put together a strong clean run. Turns out he destroyed the field, winning the first race by a large margin and claiming Privateer Racing's first Elite victory. He only had to wait a couple of hours before claiming his second pro win, although this time it wasn't quite as easy. Dropping his chain about half way down, Gui had to ride out without being able to pedal. On the Junior side, Lee Boeyen, Alex Conlon and Willy Cadham finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the first race with Lee getting a second 2nd place in the second race, posting the 3rd fastest time of the afternoon. David also got on the podium with a second place finish in Masters Expert. All in all, it was an excellent day for the team, resulting in 6 more podium finishes. We now have a week off before ending off the Quebec Cup season on Labour Day weekend.

14/08/06 - 8 Podiums in one weekend!

Well the team definitely used the home hill advantage this past weekend. On the Junior side the boys had two more podium sweeps. The Ontario Championships was Saturday with Alex Conlon taking the win followed by team mates Lee Boeyen and Adrien Lavoie. In Sunday's race, the Ontario Cup Finals, Lee Boeyen took the win followed by Alex Conlon and Willy Cadham. In the Elite field, Matt Woods had a great weekend with a 3rd place finish on Saturday and a 4th on Sunday. Bringing in the 8th medal, David Cox finished up in 2nd in Masters Expert despite having a crash. The team is looking forward to continuing this success at next weeks Quebec Cup races at Massif du Sud.

06/08/06 - More Podiums at the Quebec Championships

Camp Fortune played host to the 4th Quebec Cup stop today which was also doubled as the Quebec Championships. Although this didn't quite turn into the homecoming that we had anticipated, the team was still able to put in some strong results. Lee Boeyen, who skipped all training for this race and almost missed the race due to a nerve problem in his back was able to ride one run landing him in 3rd in Junior Expert. Despite not being able to ride much during the last couple of months, David Cox was also able to step onto the podium in a competitive Masters Expert class taking 3rd position. Unfortunately our Elite riders both suffered severe mechanicals with Guillaume Soucy-Alarie flatting during his run and Matt Woods jamming his chain early on not allowing him to pedal or even move his cranks around whatsoever. The team is looking forward to another week at home as the Ontario Championships roll into Fortune next weekend.

31/07/06 - Mount Washington Canada Cup Final

Following Nationals, Lee and Robbie competed in the Canada Cup Finals in Mount Washington on Vancouver Island. Despite small crashes by both riders, Lee finished in 4th, securing his 2nd overall in Jr. Expert for the Canada Cup Series. Robbie finished inside the top 15. After a great road trip, Robbie and Lee are looking to rejoin the team next week for the Quebec Championships.

23/07/06 - Canadian Championships - Whistler

Privateer team members Lee Boeyen and Robbie Davidson traveled out to Whistler to compete in Nationals this year. Lee was faced with some very stiff competition from the BC boys, but still managed to finish with a very respectable 6th place, just seconds off of the podium. After snapping his handlebar in the seeding run, Robbie started first in the finals. A little apprehensive and sore from the previous days crash, he rode a very conservative race landing him in the top 25.

02/07/06 - Privateer Juniors Dominate O-Cup

As the Ontario Cup rolled into Camp Fortune over the Canada Day long weekend for the third stop of their series, the Privateer Racing team made quick use of their home hill advantage. In the Junior Category, the Privateer Junior Development Team swept the podium, with Lee Boeyen taking the win with the 4th fastest time of the day followed closely by Willy Cadham and Alex Conlon. In the Pro class, Guillaume had another strong run, finishing in 5th in a very competitive field less than one second off the podium.

24/06/06 - World Cup Experience for Guillaume

In his first year as a pro, Guillaume had his first crack at the big show when he competed in the Mont Ste. Anne World Cup. He reported that it was an amazing experience and a lot of fun to compete alongside the world's best riders. This was his first time racing against this level of competition since he attended the World Championships as a Junior. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't feeling quite sick on race day and although he rode well, he didn't have the energy to pedal as hard as he would have liked in the open sections. He finished off the qualification run in 94th out of over 150 competitors, just 4 seconds back of qualifying.

11/06/06 - Another podium for Lee at the third Canada Cup Race

Well the heavens opened up on us again this year making the newly created Ste. Anne Course another mudfest. Despite the mud, the new course was definitely one of the best race tracks on the circuit. Lee once again managed to put in a strong run finishing in 2nd place and also moving into second overall in the Canada Cup Series for Junior riders. Alex also had a good run finishing with his first top 10 of the season. The course wasn't as kind to Robbie and Matt who both had very costly crashes in their race runs while Guillaume suffered a flat early in his race. Guillaume will be returning to Ste. Anne in a couple of weeks to compete in his first World Cup race while the rest of the team will get a couple of weeks of practice in prior to the Ontario Cup at Camp Fortune on the Canada Day long weekend.

30/05/06 - Lee Boeyen puts Privateer back on the podium at the second Canada Cup Race

Well Tremblant couldn't be any more different than Bromont. Dry fast course, sunshine, and warm weather. After some great practice on Friday and Saturday, the team was feeling ready to go come race time. Coming off an amazing 05 season which saw Lee Boeyen win the Quebec Cup Series in Junior Expert, he showed that he was ready to compete with the top Juniors in the country with a 2nd place finish. Jr Expert Podium Photo Two time Canadian Team member for the World Junior Championships, Guillaume Soucy-Alarie is now in his first season in the Pro class. He was able to put in a strong run finishing in the top 15 and collecting his first UCI points. Gui was also the top '87 in the race. Despite a big crash in the final section, Matt Woods was still able to turn in a top 20 performance in Elite. This was a personal best and brings him one step closer to his goal of finishing in the top 10. New Junior Team members Willy Cadham and Alex Conlon used the race to gain some valuable experience. Willy was able to finish in the top 15 in Junior Expert. Unfortunately for Alex a ripped off derailleur part and broken chain ended any chances for a result. The team is moving in the right direction and is looking forward to putting in some training at Camp Fortune prior to setting off for the third stop of the tour, Mont Ste. Anne, on June 10.

22/05/06 - Privateer Racing on the podium in the first Canada Cup Race of 06

The Canada Cup series kicked off with a very rainy Bromont race. The torrential downpour, axle deep mud and frigid temperatures set the scene for a rather disappointing race weekend. The team had a rough go in the muddy conditions joining the majority of riders who hit the dirt several times on the way down the treacherous Bromont course. Despite going over the bars several times in the opening section, David Cox settled into his run hammering the bottom and finished on the podium in 3rd place. Although most team members weren't too pleased with how the race went, we got the first race jitters out of the way and are feeling ready for Tremblant next weekend.

11/01/06 - 2006 Race Schedule Posted

Most of the 2006 race schedules have now been posted in at least a preliminary version. For 2006, Privateer Racing team is focusing primarily on Nationals as well as the Canada Cup and Quebec Cup circuits. Some of the team members will also be trying to compete at the international level in World Cup and World Championship races. We will also try to fit in some Ontario Cup races when our schedule permits them. We are very excited to see how many races our home hill, Camp Fortune is hosting for 2006, and for good reason as the Camp Fortune race course was voted best course on the Ontario Cup circuit in 2005. You can now find a list of the races that we anticipate attending next summer on our schedule page.

15/10/05 - Jr. Development Team Announced

We are pleased to announce that Alex Conlon, Adrien Lavoie and Willy Cadham have been added to the Junior Development Team. These three will join Lee Boeyen, the 2005 Quebec Cup Champion to create a very strong Junior program. We were very excited to see how much interest there was in the Junior Development Team. Unfortunately we couldn't take all applicants, but more spots should be opening up again next year.

16/09/05 - Privateer at BTAC

Well, the BTAC show is on this weekend, and Privateer Racing's Matt Woods was in attendance to check out the latest and greatest product for 2006. After a very successful 2005 season, we are in the process of lining up sponsors and gear for the 06 season. If you would be interested in sponsoring the team, or would like more information on the team, drop us a line at info@privateerracing.com.

16/09/05 - Bromont Canada Cup Video

I finally got the video from the Bromont Canada Cup online for your viewing pleasure. Check it out in the video section.

08/09/05 - **NEW** Privateer Racing's Junior Development Team program for 2006

We are very excited to be adding a Junior Development Team for 2006, and we want you!

04/09/05 - St. Mathieu Quebec Cup

The weather was fantastic for this, the last Quebec Cup race of the season. The St. Mathieu course was once again a very short sprint, where any mistakes cost you dearly. Lee was entering the race ranked third in the Jr. Expert standings, but knew that he was close enough to have a shot at the overall victory. Throwing down a superb run, he took the race win by several seconds, just squeaked out the overall series win. Just back from another injury, David was feeling a little rusty, but managed to throw down a solid sub 2 minute time. Marc had a fall in his run, finishing back of where he wanted, but was able to maintain his 9th place ranking in the overall standings.

21/08/05 - Chantecler Quebec Cup

The Chantecler race was another mudfest, where several lines needed to be changed for race day to make the course a little safer and more ride able. Lee continued to rip in the Jr. Expert class, finishing 2nd, and Marc had a strong finish in the Sr. Expert class, finishing 7th.

17/08/05 - Gui Qualifies for Worlds

For the second year in a row, Guillaume Soucy-Alarie has qualified to go to the World Championships, this year it is held in Italy. unfortunately due to the terrible crash in practice at Camp Fortune, (less than 3 hours after he got the news) which left him with a shattered elbow and two fractured vertebrae in his neck, he will be unable to attend. Congrats on the great season Gui, and we all wish you a quick recovery.

14/08/05 - Privateer Jerseys at Joe Mamma's

The new Privateer Jerseys are now available at Joe Mamma's. The Jerseys are the same style as the team ones but are in blue and black.

14/08/05 - Quebec Cup #5 - Camp Fortune

Second race of the year on our home course, you would think it would be a good day. Unfortunately, crashes were a plenty. Dave took himself out with a badly sprained wrist on Saturday and Gui went down really hard in the morning training, requiring being put on a board and carted away to the hospital, where it was found that he had crushed the bone in his elbow. We hope you heal up quick. On to the race, where Matt went down hard in "the dump" and was not able to finish his run. Luckily Lee and Marc did a little better. Marc finished a sold 7th just a couple of seconds off of the podium and Lee showed that last weeks win wasn't a fluke taking his second consecutive Jr. Expert win.

31/07/05 - Quebec Cup #4 - Massif du Sud

Fast course, dry weather, and one of the best race courses in the east, Massif du Sud was a great race. Lee took his first Jr. Expert win followed by teammate Guillaume in second. In the elite class, Matt posted another top 10 result.

19/06/05 - Canada Championships - Ste. Anne

National Champs at Mont Ste. Anne was held on an all new course this year. There was so much rain on the preceding week that the course was a complete mud pit, and a whole section of woods needed to be taken out as it was too slow to ride under the conditions. Guillaume finished 5th in Jr. Expert and Matt and Robbie finished 30th and 31st in elite.

10/06/05 - Ontario Cup #2 - Camp Fortune

The course at Fortune was beautifully cleaned up creating a super fast race. Lee placed 2nd in Jr Expert. Matt placed 4th in Elite and Robbie posted a top 10.

29/05/05 - Canada Cup #2 - Tremblant

With the Gondola breaking down, and the sound of thunder in the distance, this race almost didn't happen. The Pro field was held up at the top for over an hour while those stuck in the gondola were let out and brought to the top. Once again we had another very wet and muddy weekend, and with the flat Tremblant course, that meant a lot of pedaling! Despite crashes, both Gui and Lee both finished in the top 15 in Jr. Expert, not what either were looking for. Robbie and Matt finished in 37th and 39th respectively in Elite while Marc finished 30th in Sr. Expert. Needless to say this was a slightly frustrated group today.

22/05/05 - Canada Cup #1 - Bromont

After awesome conditions for Friday and Saturday training, the skies opened up Saturday night causing the course to drastically change. Sunday morning we found the track absolutely covered in slick mud causing everyone to re-evaluate lines, tires and strategy. Guillaume started off his final season in Jr Expert with another strong finish at Bromont coming in 3rd. Matt also had a solid day finishing in 39th in a very strong Elite class. Unfortunately due to a crash caused by a course alteration, David suffered a badly bruised rib Saturday morning and will probably miss out on the first couple of races.

03/01/05 - Launch of the 2005 Privateer Website

The overhaul of the new website is just one of the many things that are going on this winter for Privateer Racing. We have been very busy this winter in securing sponsors and planning for the 2005 season. We are very pleased to be working with Joe Mamma's Urban Cycles again, as the shop is making a large leap into the DH market. Through them we have been hooked up with Intense bikes and Smith eyewear. We are also very happy to be running Maxxis tires again for this coming season

03/01/05 - 2005 Team

The 2005 Privateer team will be composed of 6 of the top Ottawa/Hull area riders. David Cox, Matthew Woods and Robbie Davidson will be racing Pro, Marc Casavant will be in Sr. Ex while Gui Soucy-Alarie and Lee Boeyen will ripping in Jr. Ex.

01/12/04 - Privateer working with asilvertouch.com

The team will be working with asilvertouch.com for 2005 doing product reviews and testing for their e-zine. We are very excited to be working with such a progressive website that is turning out unique and interesting articles.

11/09/04 - World Championships - Les Gets, France

Congratulations to Guillaume, who just finished 36th at the World Championships. He managed to drop over 20 seconds off of his seeding run where he had placed 59th. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this happen.

29/08/04 - Quebec Cup Finals - Massif du Sud

With the team split between the Quebec finals and the Ontario Provincials, Guillaume pulled off his first win of the season and secured second overall in the Junior Expert standings. The newest addition to the team, Lee Boeyen, managed to pull off 3rd overall in the Quebec Cup series in Cadet.

29/08/04 - Ontario Championships - Calabogie

Well, the lifts broke down Saturday, and the sky's opened up Sunday, but the they got the race off. The course became so slick, and for some reason we didn't change over to our mud tires, big mistake. Any ways, Robbie Davidson pulled off the first pro podium for the team finishing in 3rd place in the Elite class.

27/08/04 - Joe Mamma Fundraiser a huge success

We surpassed our target of $1600 last night, bringing in nearly $1700 to help get Guillaume to the World Championships in Les Gets France. Much thanks to everyone who supported the fundraiser, Joe Mamma, Maxxis, Cycle Lambert, OGC, Yodo, 24 Bicycles, Sugoi, Powerbar, mtbkanata.com and many more. The turnout, generosity and support were incredible. Here is what Guillaume had to say:
"I really want to thank you guys for tonight, it was one of the best feeling I've ever had, to see so many peoples come out and donate just for me. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a strong and helpful bike community. Thanks to you guys, not just for the donations but also because you came out to show me you're support. Thanks to Jose (and Joe Mamma) who made this happen. Thanks to asilvertouch for the contribution and support. Thanks to my team (Privateer Racing) for the support they gave to the little baby of the team during all the season and also for the donations. Thanks to each of you that gave in big numbers. Thanks to Matt who had his hair turned into a mohawk by a really nice looking lady. There is no word to describe how I feel right now. If I can help anybody in anyway, let me know, I need to give back to people that gave me so much. You guys are awesome. I will try to represent the region the best way I can. Thanks again Merci infiniment. You guys just made my dream come true!"
Guillaume Soucy-Alarie

21/08/04 - Joe Mamma fundraiser to send Gui to World Champs

Jose was nice enough to set up a fundraiser night to help get Guillaume to France for the World Championships. Please join us at the Clock Tower Pub Thursday August 26 at 8:00. This is an all ages event. There will be a silent auction with tons of sweet swag including items from Joe Mamma's and Maxxis tires, plus 9 all new Privateer T-shirt designs, so come on out and support your local racer!

21/08/04 - Quebec Cup #7 - Camp Fortune

Finally a dry course with beautiful weather. This was a tight race with the top 7 Elite men all finishing within 2.2 seconds. All 3 Privateer Racing Elite men finished within the top 10 with Robbie in 7th, Matt in 9th and David in 10th. Richard was able to finish in 5th in the Masters category, and despite loosing his chain in the top half, Guillaume managed to pull off a 4th place finish.

19/08/04 - Guillaume qualifies for World Champs in Les Gets France

Congratulations to Guillaume Soucy-Alarie who has qualified for the World Championships in Les Gets France. With a string of strong finishes including 2nd at the opening Canada Cup and 2nd at Nationals, he has been chosen to represent Canada at the largest event of the year. All this and it is only his first year as a Jr. Expert.

14/08/04 - Quebec Cup #6 - Lac Beauport

Well, it seems to have rained at almost every stop of the Quebec Cup this year, but Le Relais was by far the muddiest race of the season. David managed to pull of his first top 10 in Pro, placing 9th. Despite a big crash, Guillaume managed to hold on and place second in Jr. Expert.

19/07/04 - Guillaume places 2nd at Nationals

After being named to the Quebec Team for Nationals at Mont Ste. Anne, Privateer Racing's Guillaume Soucy-Alarie put in a great run to place second in the Junior Expert class.

05/06/04 - Quebec Cup #3 - Chanecler

This was the first stop at Chantecler for the Quebec Cup and it featured a freshly cut course which changed significantly as practice progressed. It was a fun course just over 2 minutes with a lot of fast twisty sections. However most of the focus was on the rocky switch backs, which was constantly backlogged in practice, causing many spectacular crashes. Philippe Menard took the win by 4 seconds in an otherwise extremely tight men's elite field.

30/05/04 - Canada Cup #2 - Tremblant

Another Beautiful weekend at Mont Tremblant. The race course was virtually unchanged from last year, and it included a nice mixture of high speed ski hill sections combined with technical rocky woods sections. Being one of the longest races in the east, combined with the large amount of pedaling required, Tremblant really pushes the rider physically. The Pro class once again had a very strong field of over 80 riders. Eric Goss (Giant) was the winner, by 7 seconds, then came Mike Jones (Norco) followed by Mathieu Laurin (Iron Horse/Mad Catz).

27/05/04 - The Descent DVD is now available online

Our film The Descent is now available in our online store. It is now easy to order, and will be shipped out within two days of your order. We will also have copies at the races if you would prefer to get it there.

23/05/04 - Canada Cup #1 - Bromont

Despite the rain Saturday night after training, the weather was beautiful Sunday. Congratulations go out to Guillaume as he finished 2nd in his first race in Junior Expert. David also had a strong race finishing 27th in a stacked pro category with over 80 riders.
